Hiut Denim fans can test their designing skills this holiday season.
Known for handmade denim and limited runs, the Welsh company launched “Build Your Own Jean” gift sets for the holiday season. Each gift box has a selection of fabrics and trims the recipient can choose from to build their custom jeans.
The gift boxes complement Hiut’s existing custom denim business, which allows consumers to select the fit and fabric of their choice.
Two gift box options are available: one for jeans made with Japanese selvedge fabric and a second for jeans made with organic cotton.
The Japanese selvedge box contains a swatch of 14.5 oz. raw Japanese selvedge denim from Kurabo Denim Mill. The fabric has a red cast indigo and red selvedge line.
The organic cotton box comes with two swatches to choose from—a green cast 100 percent organic cotton denim from Isko in Tukey and 100 percent organic cotton GOTS certified denim from Italy’s Candiani with a medium to dark indigo.
All fabrics are part of Hiut’s “No Wash Club,” an initiative to encourage consumers to try and go as long as they can without washing their jeans to reduce the impact of home laundries.
In addition to fabrics, each gift box contains a selection of color rivets (orange, red, lilac and black) and examples of the brand’s tobacco and navy thread. It also includes a leather patch, candy cane and the booklet of styles.
Consumers can also have the text of their choice printed on the jeans’ back patch.
Once the order is placed, it will take between four to six weeks for the jeans to be shipped. The gift box retails for $256-$352 and it includes the cost of the jeans.
Hiut Denim also offers a Gift Book, which is a voucher to spend toward a pair of standard jeans.
