Denim Made a Statement On and Off the Stage at Coachella

The second weekend of Coachella wrapped up on Sunday, ushering in a wave of festival fashion that paid homage to the early 2010s. Often considered the golden era of festival style, that decade’s influence was unmistakable on the fields of Indio. From fringe to low-rise jeans, many festivalgoers seemed to channel the eclectic boho vibes once made iconic by style muses like Paris Hilton, Vanessa Hudgens and the Hadid and Jenner sisters.

Denim was the foundation to many of these looks. Canadian tuxedos, miniskirts, baggy jeans and low-rise jeans were styled lace, mesh and crochet tops, band tees and tanks. Jean shorts—long and micro lengths—prevailed as the go-to for men and women. Wallet chains, destruction, raw hems, studs, vintage washes and turned-down waistbands were among the ways festival goers styled the summer staple.

The stage was home to statement-making denim including SAINt JHN’s one-of-a-kind custom look created in collaboration with Levi’s and Who Decides War. South Korean boy band and Prada ambassadors Enhypen wore denim coordinates from the Italian fashion house embellished with rhinestones and western motifs.

Headliner Post Malone continued to vibe in his country boy aesthetic, wearing bootcut jeans during both weekends. Meanwhile, Tyla’s micro jean shorts embellished with fringe were part of a look that referenced the iconic look Britney Spears wore during her snake-wielding “Slave 4 U” performance at the 2001 VMAs.
