Bonded Logic Inc., the U.S. manufacturer of recycled denim insulation and long-time recycling partner of Cotton Incorporated’s Blue Jeans Go Green, has a new owner.
The thermal and acoustical insulation products company has been acquired by Carlisle Companies Incorporated, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based manufacturer and supplier of building envelope products and solutions.
Founded in 2002 with manufacturing locations in Arizona and Georgia, Bonded Logic’s specialty is innovative natural fiber insulation products with sustainability features. The company’s best-known product is Henry UltraTouch Denim Insulation, a high-performance, natural insulation used for residential building made with 80 percent recycled denim.
Blue Jeans Go Green, Cotton Incorporated’s textile recycling program, supplies Bonded Logic with denim waste to produce the insulation. Denim that is no longer in use is sent to a recycling facility where the hardware is removed and fabric is shredded into a fibrous state. The cotton fibers are then pressed into large mats, which are cut to fit walls or other products such as pet bed inserts or thermal packaging liners to keep food deliveries cool.
The circular insulation—with a distinct blue color—repurposes more than 500,000 pairs of jeans per month, diverting 20 million pounds of denim from landfills annually.
Carlisle said the acquisition of Bonded Logic is consistent with its pivot to pure play building products.
“The Bonded Logic acquisition leverages our proven M&A playbook and expands our offering of building envelope products for more energy efficient buildings,” said Chris Koch, Carlisle chair, president and CEO. “This acquisition enables further development of our innovative Henry UltraTouch Denim Insulation that’s made from recycled denim and cotton fibers and represents long-term revenue and margin expansion opportunities for Carlisle as we work towards our Vision 2030 objectives.”
