From international trade policies like the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) opening the floodgates for due diligence legislation to navigating the sundry of supply chain disruptions, the fashion industry has had a busy year. But now, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
Advanced technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D software is becoming less of a buzzword and more mainstream. The fashion industry is searching for new ways to adopt more circular practices in hopes of mitigating environmental impact. And industry-wide collaborations are blooming—from external partnerships to internal mobilization—helping advance sustainable investments and innovations.
Diving deep into these topics and more, Sourcing Journal gathered industry leaders for our in-person 2023 Fall Summit, titled “All the Right Moves.” Held in New York City on Nov. 2, players from across the globe provided 300-plus attendees with valuable insights and data through presentations and lively discussion.
“[Sourcing Journal’s Fall Summit] is thought provoking,” said Ben Tomkins, vice president, retail sales, for cotton tester Oritain. “[It’s] such an insightful opportunity to get perspectives from different parts of the business and supply chain and really see where the industry is trending.”
Keynote speaker Jeffrey Tweedy—brand advisor of Sean John, the award-winning clothing and lifestyle brand co-founded with Sean Combs in 1998—revealed how he grew the label into one of the fastest-growing men’s sportswear imprints in the 2000s. He also shared lessons learned during his one-year stint as the East Coast sales manager for Ralph Lauren’s women’s collection in the ‘90s and how those takeaways molded his career.
Our Fall Summit Companion Report continues these conversations through panel writeups, key findings and additional interviews.
