Shuffle Board: Gap Taps Nike Exec as Athleta CEO, Puma Names Adidas Vet

Heritage-brand house Gap Inc. has named Maggie Gauger as global brand president and chief executive officer of Athleta, effective Aug. 1, as Chris Blakeslee steps down from the role. Gauger brings more than 25 years of experience, most recently serving as Nike’s vice president and general manager for North America women’s business, resulting in a $4.5 billion annual revenue portfolio, per Gauger’s LinkedIn.

She led the division for two years, having joined Nike back in 2002 as a retail merchandising planner and climbing through the ranks. She held various roles within merchandising and sales for a decade before becoming vice president of global sales for Nike women in 2012, VP of global marketplace and categories in 2020 and global VP of direct acceleration in 2022. As Gauger transitions into her role, Blakeslee will remain with the company as an advisor to support a smooth transition. He was named president and CEO of Athleta on Aug. 7, 2023.

Global luxury group Ermenegildo Zegna announced that Thom Browne CEO Rodrigo Bazan is exiting, effective Aug. 31. Sam Lobban will assume the role of CEO on Sept. 2. Bazan, who is stepping down to pursue other opportunities, has led Thom Browne since 2016. Under his leadership and alongside Thome Browne’s creative direction, the brand made 315 million euros ($359.4 million) in 2024.

Lobban currently serves as executive vice president and general merchandising manager for apparel and designer at Nordstrom, where he curates collaborations with brands including Thom Browne. Lobban began his career at Selfridges in London before becoming part of Mr. Porter’s founding team.

Kontoor Brands

VC Corporation spin-off Kontoor Brands announced that Jenni Broyles and Joseph Alkire will assume expanded roles on the company’s executive leadership team. Tom Waldron, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will exit the company following a transition period to conclude Sept. 30.

Broyles has been named executive vice president, chief commercial officer and global head of brands. In this role, she assumes leadership responsibility for all international and commercial operations for the Lee and Wrangler brands. She will report to Kontoor’s president, CEO and chairman, Scott Baxter. Alkire will also report to Baxter in his role as executive vice president, chief financial officer and global head of operations, assuming responsibility for Kontoor’s supply chain operations.

Puma

Global sportswear brand Puma has named Andreas Hubert as chief operating officer, effective Sept. 1. He will join Puma’s management board, bringing the body count up to five. As COO, Hubert will manage the company’s global sourcing operations, including sustainability and product development efforts, as well as IT and logistics. Given his board seat, Puma is “streamlining responsibilities” and merging sourcing, IT and logistics within the COO’s wheelhouse. The chief product officer used to be in charge of sourcing and IT was the CFO’s responsibility, while logistics was “part of the CEO resort.”

Most recently, Hubert was serving as chief information officer at Adidas, overseeing the company’s technology strategy, systems and services—among other roles held during his 20-year tenure—up until June.

American lifestyle brand J.McLaughlin has named Greg Unis as chief executive officer. Unis has served as interim CEO since March 2025 and has been a member of the company’s board of directors, appointed by Brentwood Associates, since January. In this now permanent role, Unis will oversee all aspects of the business to lead the brand into the next era. He brings over 25 years of relevant experience, most recently serving as president of Victoria’s Secret and Pink. He previously held senior executive roles at Coach, Brooks Brothers and Gap.

Oritain

Oritain has named Ana Hinojosa as executive director, government and regulatory affairs. Hinojosa will lead the forensic and data science company’s regulation strategy, focused on aligning Oritain’s ability with “emerging enforcement priorities,” particularly within the United States. Hinojosa brings more than 34 years of experience to the role; before joining Oritain as an advisor in 2022, she held senior leadership positions at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).

During her tenure at CBP, Hinojosa led initiatives targeting forced labor, trade fraud and tariff evasion. She modernized civil penalty systems to strengthen corporate accountability, too. Hinojosa’s appointment follows the recent arrival of Paul Bentham as chief product and technology officer.

Italian manufacturer Diadora has named John Moloznik as director of sales. In his new role, Moloznik will oversee the sales organization, focusing on developing go-to-market strategies and strategic partnerships, with an additional focus on running specialty. He brings over a decade of experience in the sporting goods industry, most notably serving in various leadership roles at Fleet Feet, where he led omnichannel efforts and oversaw the opening of 100-plus retail stores nationwide.
