One of the largest apparel groups in Europe, Nextil Group, is opening a new luxury apparel factory in Bologna, Italy, to meet strong demand for French and Italian garments carrying the “Made in Italy” label.
The facility becomes operational this week and will open new growth opportunities for Nextil in the luxury segment. By the end of the first year, it will have the capacity to produce 2,000 garments a month and will contribute 1 million euros ($1.09 million) to the group’s EBITDA, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.
The new plant will employ 20 people and will produce the company’s entire range of services under the name Nextil Luxury. A distribution network will serve all of Italy.
The Nextil Group is based in Portugal where it has six production plants. Earlier this year, it committed to investing $40 million in two new state-of-the-art production facilities in Guatemala that will produce garments and elastic fabrics for the shapewear and sportswear markets. It is estimated that the two facilities will create 1,300 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs. The company also has a small facility specialized in the bath products sector in Badalona, Spain. The company was founded in 1954 in the Barcelona area, and it manufactures fabrics and garments for leading brands in fashion, swimwear, athleisure and lingerie.
