Grounding Colors Are Trending for Spring/Summer 2028

Future Snoops unveiled three color shifts set to make an emotional and creative impact for Spring/Summer 2028.

Drawing on cultural currents, emotional resonance and market-specific insights, the trend forecasting firm shared its predictions during a webinar last week, highlighting the shades that will define the season.

Abundant Brights is a color shift that marks a new kind of color confidence. “Bold without being brash, dramatic without tipping into excess, intensified, warm and deepened until they feel grounded and emotionally fluent,” Hallie Spradlin, Future Snoops director of visionary, said the color palette glows rather than glares.

Abundant Brights taps into the desire to be seen and heard. In a period of political tension, Spradlin said the colors “operate as a tool of protest and self-definition, rejecting neutrality in favor of clarity and conviction.” The colors also reflect consumers’ growing love for global travel, especially to Asia and Africa, where color plays a central role in architecture, markets and ceremony.

Bitter Tangerine plays into this cultural narrative. Joanne Thomas, Future Snoops director of color, said it suits tropical florals and intricate paisleys, while also carrying a clay-like richness that enlivens sun-worn dyes and textured fabrics. “It’s equally effective as a core update, bringing energy, joy and immediacy to any palette,” she added.

Thawed Nuance is a color shift that invites pause and reflection. Spradlin said the shift evokes soft awakenings, intimate tenderness and analog softness through iridescence, shells and petals, mineralization and chalky, salted textures. She added that the colors “act as a dream state filter” making imperfections beautiful, fragile and introspective.

Colors include Plump Peach, Bone, Fermented Fizz, Willow Brown, Sesame Syrup and Salted Sage.

Bone offers a quiet and mineral calm while Fermented Fizz lifts the palette with an effervescent, tangy green. “Willow Brown carries the intimacy of faded textiles,” Spradlin said, adding that Plump Peach “glides across surfaces with a sensuous and almost tactile warmth that’s ideal for soft touch materials.”

Sesame Syrup, a sticky, translucent yellow that glows with that sun, radiates gentle warmth that feels intimate and comforting, Thomas added. “It’s tender yet intriguing, and it evokes the quiet rituals of light, renewal and introspection, offering a luminous glow that feels simultaneously earthy and elevated,” she said.

Religion is a strong influence. While fashion has a long history of subverting religious motifs, Spradlin said the colors reflect a shift to sincerity, adding that Gen Z and millennials are outpacing older cohorts in church attendance. “During this time of great uncertainty, religion is providing a way for many to anchor themselves in a moral code, to find a rare sense of hope,” she said.

Spradlin added that consumers are also growing tired of “performative authenticity and information overload.” Instead, they’re turning to inner alignment and quiet clarity to let ideas mature privately before sharing them publicly online.

Future Snoops’ third color shift, Skin-Contact echoes this sentiment to feel more grounded. Pulling inspiration from worn leather, oiled wood, hides, lime-washed walls and clay vessels, Spradlin said colors feel native to the land and muted,

Colors include Straw Bale, Limewash, Smoked Rosewood, Autumnal Peach, Fired Clay and Rested Copper.

Spradlin said Straw Bale radiates understated warmth, while Autumnal Peach brings a dry and sun-infused heat. She added that Fire Clay offers a sun-kissed red and Limewash is an airy, chalky and breathable hue. Smoked Rosewood is a dusky mid tone pink that feels like it has “gently matured through wear and touch,” Thomas said. She added that the color takes on a soft laundered effect on cottons, peached satins, lace and crepe chiffons.

Cultural factors driving the shift include a revival of folk schools that teach through soil, seasons and shared labor rather than through lectures. Farm-based based hospitality is emerging, inviting adults back into the physical work and slower rhythms of learning, Spradlin said. Traditional craft is also experiencing a resurgence as indigenous collectives and artisans transform their techniques into internationally recognized art.

“This revival reflects a broader cultural shift toward reclaiming identity, agency and embodied knowledge in a world that often feels fast, moving and impersonal,” Spradlin said.
