Bangladesh garment conglomerate DBL Group has once again been recognized by the HSBC Export Excellence Awards for its work in ready-made garments. The win—which is DBL’s sixth, an unprecedented feat in Bangladesh—recognizes DBL Group’s leadership across multiple dimensions of the ready-made garment export category.
The award, which was presented in partnership with global financial firm HSBC, the government of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission of Dhaka, noted DBL’s sustained export growth and penetration into global markets. The honor also recognized the conglomerate’s innovation through a fully vertically integrated knitwear ecosystem and its resilience amid global economic challenges and supply chain disruptions.
“Winning this award once is a privilege. Winning it six times, and being the sole Bangladeshi conglomerate to do so, is powerful validation that consistency, integrity and innovation are non-negotiable pillars of true export excellence,” said M.A. Jabbar, managing director, DBL Group. “This recognition belongs to every member of the DBL family and stakeholders.”
DBL is among the largest manufacturers and exporters of knit garments in Bangladesh, with a production capacity of 13 million pieces per month. The company exports garments to Europe, the United States and Canada, and stands as H&M’s platinum supplier for knit clothing. DBL Group counts Walmart, Puma, Esprit and G-Star among its top clients, and it also serves as Levi’s official partner in Bangladesh.
Along with its apparel production arm, DBL Group also presides over a varied portfolio of businesses in categories such as ceramic tile, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and dredging, telecom, agro, aviation, digital solutions and fashion retail.
Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector accounts for more than 80 percent of the country’s exports, according to RMG Bangladesh. The country’s garment industry has had a tumultuous few years recently, with worker unrest, port disruptions and other challenges causing disruption.
DBL Group has aimed to sidestep that turmoil while also meeting global standards for environmental, social and governance compliance by implementing an end-to-end backward integration model that delivers quality control, faster speed-to-market and verifiable sustainability impacts. The company said that this award helps validate that the work they’ve done is making a difference.
“As Bangladesh continues to solidify its position as a global apparel sourcing hub, DBL Group remains at the forefront of ethical, sustainable, and technologically advanced manufacturing,” the company said in a statement. “This sixth HSBC Export Excellence Award is not just a celebration of past success but a promise of continued leadership in building a responsible and future-ready garment industry.”
