Shop Swarovski’s Whimsical “Shrek” Release
Ogres are like onions, and Swarovski’s newest home collection — a “Shrek”-themed one made in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation and Universal Products & Experiences — is like… a fever dream in the best possible way. Featuring crystal miniatures of your favorite characters from the “Shrek” universe, it’s meant to bring all the glamour of the Kingdom of Far Far Away straight to your swamp (erm, home).
Akin to the Austrian fine jewelry label’s limited-edition capsules spotlighting the likes of Disney princesses, “The Lion King” wild cats, rambunctious Minions, and even the most popular Minecraft skins, Swarovski x Shrek marries whimsical storytelling with the brand’s iconic craftsmanship. The end result? Five distinct, gift-worthy pieces you can shop today to delight anyone on your list who can’t stop sending you Lord Farquaad memes: more than two decades after the first movie in the “Shrek” franchise hit theaters.
It goes without saying that the pièce de résistance here is Shrek himself, outfitted in his instantly recognizable tunic, vest, peasant-style tights, and brown boots. These design elements, along with his charming grin and trumpet ears, are crafted out of top-quality crystal with a total of 551 facets — which epitomizes the artistry and care that went into the lovable ogre’s making.
He’d be no one without his left-hand man, though, and so Swarovski also came out with a Donkey statuette that doesn’t start annotating the legendary storyline in Eddie Murphy’s voice (sorry) but still looks incredibly accurate, courtesy of the crystal maker’s “Shadow Crystal effect to match his on-screen color.” If you place the gray-hued creature next to his green pal on your coffee table or nightstand, they just might come alive when you’re least aware of it: “Toy Story”–style. (Don’t say we didn’t warn you.)
Completing the five-piece release are the lovely Fiona, boasting 584 whole facets for an objet d’art that seems to radiate the heroine’s feisty spirit (peep that silver-tone metal tiara, too); Puss in Boots, who makes his grand debut in “Shrek 2” and, as part of Swarovski’s drop, retains both his signature swagger and shiny sword; as well as the Gingerbread Man, capturing the imagination with contrasting crystal buttons (“not my gumdrop buttons!”) and a color-happy lollipop in hand.
Precisely cut, rooted in Swarovski’s rich legacy, and able to put a smile on the face of even those who are more likely to side with the “Shrek” villains — Fairy Godmother included — these Shrek x Swarovski decorations are also the perfect way to celebrate the upcoming rollout of “Shrek 5.”
Mark your calendars for June 30, 2027, and enjoy these new arrivals in the meantime: showing off both your “Shrek” devotion and appreciation of the finer things in life.
