As if having the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan as unofficial models wasn’t enough, luxury streetwear brand Unravel decided to stage its first runway show in Paris this season.
Ben Taverniti and Joyce Bonelli, who is Kim Kardashian’s longtime makeup artist, showcased their spring collection in the bowels of the Palais de Tokyo against the backdrop of a flaming Unravel logo — a suitably underground vibe for a brand famed for its deconstructed aesthetic.
This season featured sweatshirts and bomber jackets cut away to reveal satiny corsets. Wide elasticated waistbands lifted from boxing shorts found their way onto items like a plunge-necked black minidress, while silky boxing robes morphed with jackets into hybrid outerwear creations.
“Nothing is symmetrical, nothing is linear, so it’s a lot of building, rebuilding and creating new shapes,” Taverniti explained backstage. “We have so much to show, you know, we wanted to make sure it was shown in the proper way, not get lost in translation.”
