Hong Kong-based designer Anais Mak continued to develop her vision of “good girl” dressing, inspired for spring by British colonial influence on her homeland. Jourden’s identity and appeal grows sharper from season to season — this time via quirky use of transparency and fabric treatments.
Yellow floral embroideries positioned on a crinkled organza pencil skirt and off-the-shoulder crop top were a case in point. Layered embroideries with an enlarged fishnet pattern punctuated with blue dots and woven with wires to give a synthetic look were another.
For more of an edge verging on fetishist — but still resolutely girly — Mak presented bias-cut skirts crafted from black or silver lacquered lace that had the look of leather. The designer also offered some tailored pieces for the first time, as in a double-breasted jacket and loose velvet pants in a checkered print.
