At Drome, Marianna Rosati’s idea of effortless sensuality meant clean-cut shapes helped along by construction and a palette that went from not-quite-white neutrals to more vivid choices like fuchsia, bright yellow and lavender.
To make the brand’s signature leather fit for warm weather, the designer used silk inserts, floaty panels spliced into leather pleats as well as leather weaves to achieve a sense of lightness.
Rosati said she’d looked to the cusp of the Nineties, a time where women were striking a have-it-all work-life balance. This translated best into leather trouser suits in feminine colors that were brought in at the waist through draping, forcing boxy shapes to conform to feminine contours; a business appropriate blue jumpsuit with a sensual cut; a crisp white shirtdress with marked ruffles, and a patent lilac trenchcoat.
