There’s was lots going on for spring with Thai label Milin.
Designer Milin Yuvacharukskul featured bold-shouldered blazers cut from Thai silk with an alligator print, men’s wear and chiffon for a collection she said was inspired by the working girl who dresses to impress at the office.
“The clothes have a feeling of office structure, but our brand is sensual, elegant and rebellious,” Yuvacharukskul said.
The company’s been playing with masculinity for a few seasons but spring reflects a ramp up in those efforts, Yuvacharukskul said. The designer was drawn to the blazer, pairing it with a blue chiffon dress or using the piece to create a one sleeve metallic dress in a rather literal take on mixing office with evening. The rest of the collection was diverse in color palette at times lacking a certain cohesion, with a purple evening gown clashing with looks such as a printed orange crop top that was paired with a green and black dress. The collection was also infused with gold and silver metallic minidresses, gowns and asymmetric tops.
The designer said her line is not for the faint of heart. Of the Milin girl, she said, “They love their body and know what they’re doing. They’re fashion forward.”
