New York-based French designer Alix Petit took her vision of femininity on an acid trip to Italy this season. Her Marmo collection — inspired by Italian marble — was an unusual cross between flounces of girly romanticism and fluorescent street style with an Eighties feel.
Loose maxidresses played on green marble and colorful floral prints with contrasting translucent ruffles. Prints were carried over onto trouser suits, blouses and jumpsuits.
Lace, a constant in Petit’s collections, was given a touch of modernity with a technical finish and geometric shapes on dresses and tops in black and white. Shiny golden zip closures contrasted with the romantic theme.
Biker jackets were given the pop treatment too, portrayed in a patchwork of black, white, acid yellow and pale pink leather with zip and button details, while pale denim also had a role to play on jackets, dresses and a riveted sweatshirt.
