Global warming has nothing on Alexis Mabille. Titling his collection “Heat Wave,” the designer showed everything a girl needs to tackle a warm front.
Mabille worked handkerchief dresses and tops in a bayadère-striped fabric in a combination of white, yellow, red and blue that set the tone for the rest of the lineup. A long dress in coral crepe was paired with a fluorescent yellow bomber jacket, and a white poplin tunic with lemon chiffon pajama pants.
He made a crisp cotton bustier dress appear both comfortable and elegant, by using oversized pockets and an asymmetric hem to balance out a theatrical broderie anglaise ruffle. Like many of the outfits, it was worn with glittery high-top trainers that gave even flesh-baring looks a girl-next-door appeal.
Sporty touches came via shirtdresses with Eighties-style contrasting stripe details and puffy elbow-length sleeves, or a black sweatshirt that juxtaposed a heart-shaped inset of black tulle with the signature “Alexis” trimmed in gold.
