For spring, Escada fashion director Daniel Wingate was inspired by Africa — but there were no tribal prints in the lineup. Rather, he created an homage to the continent via bold, vibrant colors and crafty homespun details.
Wingate showed his artisanal hand with a woven and fringed leather jacket, a long vest in a basket weave and a macrame lace short-sleeved gown. He also offered an effortless striped one-shouldered column gown inspired by the souq and the colors of spices. Key looks included a pretty floral-print-over-jacquard shiftdress, a chic white pantsuit and a pair of cropped sailor pants with horn buttons. Wingate’s outerwear game was bold, featuring oversize trenches in vibrant colors that should appeal to the Escada woman.
