Known for her playful presentations, Rachel Antonoff showed her spring lineup in the Palm Room of New York’s Plaza Hotel with paper birds hanging overhead. Her inspirations were “Troop Beverly Hills”-meets-“Moonrise Kingdom” and what she dubbed “The Woman’s Aviary Society Annual Birding Overnight Trip.” The clothes were just as campy — including a camp uniform-inspired jacket and romper, with patches included.
Obviously Antonoff loves to run with a theme, so there were crisp white shirts with tiny birds embroidered on the collars. There were also tutti-frutti prints on sassy, flirty dresses and on a denim jacket. For those who shy away from her whimsical, original prints, Antonoff offered a few white eyelet pieces including a little summer dress. It was all very cute and sweet but at times, some looks veered toward costumey.
