This season, a thoroughly modern Misha Nonoo showed her latest Sixties-inspired collection in the most “social” of ways: via Instagram.
“I was invited to tour their headquarters in Palo Alto, and the conversation turned to fashion adopting tech, how we live in such a global community now and how I wanted to show in a different way…so when I came back we figured it all out,” said the designer.
As her plan turned into action, Nonoo commissioned photographer Matthew Kristall to shoot the imagery while influencers from all over the world — including Lena Dunham, Olivia Palermo, Eva Chen and Laura Brown — were sent looks from the collection to Instagram themselves wearing, creating a sort of on-screen Runway vs. Real World perspective.

Reflecting Nonoo’s interpretations of modern art, the spring lineup was graphic and fun. A red-and-white striped knit jersey with inlay stitching set the tone, while a sunburst-pleated white dress with a lace back and several cute uniform-inspired dresses followed. Denim was a big part of the lineup, too, done in cool belted minis and retro-chic culottes — looks that will surely show up quickly in our Insta-feeds.
