For the second time — after Sochi in 2014 — Lacoste will outfit the French Olympic delegation at the 2016 Summer Olympics next August in Rio de Janeiro. Felipe Oliveira Baptista used this as his starting point for spring, infusing his fresh and sporty collection with all things “positive, dynamic and free.” In a largely primary color palette, the lineup featured athletic references and national flags aplenty.
For women, Baptista rendered polo minidresses and bomber jackets in bold, abstract flag prints. The sporty look skewed sexy, too: a navy, deep-V jumpsuit with cutouts highlighted body consciousness. The strongest looks in the lineup bore a utilitarian vibe, such as a space age-y metallic flight suit and a chic, fluid Army green safari dress made from parachute nylon.

As for the men’s wear, technical fabrics such as parachute nylon worked well in summer anoraks and bodysuits while Japanese crepe cotton elevated the softly constructed suit offering. The broken flag graphic element infused new life into the house’s polo heritage and added visual excitement. However, the graphic theme became tricky at times, especially in a too-close-for-comfort Vanilla Ice-inspired Nineties look featuring an American flag patchwork print on a nylon jacket with matching sweatpants.
