As his inspiration for spring, Diesel Black Gold designer Andreas Melbostad envisioned “a girl who steps into her boyfriend’s wardrobe, takes a white shirt, wears it like a dress and throws a cool jacket over it.” The result was a fresh direction for the house.
On the runway, the lineup’s well-thought-out looks set a tough-girl tone: a black overall with grommeted straps over a black leather shell, a leather dress version worn over a white shirt and black-patent pants with a trapeze halter top. Melbostad also showed a group of white geometric embroidered dresses, often cut in asymmetric silhouettes. The standout was a white shirtdress featuring the geometric embroidery as a peplum. “We really wanted to play with new textures and techniques,” the designer said. The result was a much more diverse collection.
