Christian Siriano is known for his bold eveningwear, but he’s been quietly growing and evolving his offerings for day. So as a natural progression, the designer’s spring show was focused on sportswear, which Siriano told WWD backstage he felt was important to highlight because of its versatility.
Inspired by Morocco, both its landscape and its architecture, the designer filled his collection with texture, fringe and embroidery. Feminine handkerchief-hem dresses; fringed crop tops paired with a flounce skirt or wide-leg pants, and a hammered silk cape top and trousers were among his most striking day looks.
For evening, Siriano went for all-out drama with voluminous gowns, many in shades of silver and gold, and a few bizarrely hooded numbers in bright hues. More subdued was the fitted black gown with a cutout detail across the shoulders and neckline. It had a sleek confidence that would translate beautifully on the red carpet.
