The starting point for Stacey Bendet’s spring lineup, “Oh My Goddess,” was close to home this season — the designer is nine months pregnant and due to give birth to her third daughter any day now. “It’s about the strength of a woman; her inner goddess,” she said during a walk-through while towering in five-inch, over-the-knee boots, her considerable bump visible through a black minidress.
The brand’s young, girly, trend-loving clientele will find plenty to covet, including bold flowery prints and romantic embroidery. Several softer looks played on a Grecian theme, as in white flowing gowns in chiffon with cascading ruffles.
But there was a more prominent bohemian flair to the collection that took its cues from a desert landscape with floral prints, Aztec motifs and a sandy color palette. There were studded suede skirts, decorated ponchos and Bendet’s signature oversize vests, some decorated with fringe and others skimming the floor. A few looks, such as a trippy, giant desert flower, harkened back to the Swinging Sixties.

Bendet paid close attention to separates this season, introducing a capsule line of heavily embroidered “couture denim” looks for the first time. This was done in Seventies-style flares, as well a fun twist on eveningwear with intricately beaded white flares fit for an alternative bride. Tops, too, were detailed with sheer lace insets in pleated off-the-shoulder styles or with billowing sleeves.
