The onna-bugeisha, a female samurai warrior, provided the spring inspiration for designers Max and Lubov Azria in a show that was interesting if not inventive. It added a Japanese vibe to the line’s usual riffs on bandage looks, particularly the opening kimono-style numbers, such as the jacquard wrap top worn over a bandage dress with origami touches. Beyond those, the designers worked some body-hugging mesh numbers that were a nod to Versace.
