Talbot Runhof’s Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof had a political message aimed at Vladimir Putin — to watch where he raises his flag. The duo sent out a series of T-shirts with postcard prints ridiculing the Russian president’s appetite for conquest, such as a doctored image of the politician swinging from the Empire State Building. These Ts were teamed with glittery ball skirts in hand-painted jacquard, mixing casual with cocktail.
That high-low mix was a recurring theme. Activewear looks, including basketball jerseys and varsity jackets, were shown alongside more refined details such as coral embroideries and chic velvet fabrics.
Whether the spirited collection was strong enough to impact political change is unlikely, but it was a nice try, nonetheless.
