“There is a craving for authentic handcrafted work again,” designer Amy Smilovic said backstage before the Tibi show. She gave the craftwork traditions of Peru and Japan a contemporary sensibility by working them into modern silhouettes, like strapless shibori-print dresses, architectural skirts with origami pleats and cropped quilted jackets with matching minis.
