In his collection, Tadashi Shoji channeled the magnificence of the Ca’ d’Oro — the “Golden Palace” on the Grand Canal in Venice. Intricately beaded dresses with capes and tulle and chiffon gowns with sheer necklines and insets of chain mesh paneling gave the illusion of floating parts, imbuing the collections with an elegant airiness.
