In her third season, Rosetta Getty presented a beautifully quiet collection comprising the perfect building blocks for creating a chic, minimal wardrobe.
Inspired by “the natural elements of the earth, land art and surface texture,” the designer cited the works of artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. She infused the ideas of wrapping, tying and layering into her collection — coats have scarflike ties at the lapel, pants feature wrap ties, blouses have neckties — all executed with a cozy, comfortable ease. These looks can easily go from day to night, especially an exquisite embroidered metallic top that adds glamour to almost anything.
Also looking to the works of American environmental artist Mary Miss, Getty offered clean lines and natural fabrics — hand-knit cashmere, cashmere and silk ribbed tops, cotton voile, printed silks, blanket linens and a piqué wool, among others — using only soothing colors like ivory, beige, the palest pink and shades of blue.
Getty also tried her hand at shoes for the first time, most noteworthy being the leather, wood and metal mules that were a chic take on classic Dr. Scholl’s.
