Peter Som knows his way around a color palette. His combinations of relatively quiet shades, like pale pink and muted olive green, worked into florals and oversize stripes, emboldened the collection’s nuanced Americana. “I was thinking about Pop Art and all-American optimism,” he said. “American sportswear has become the uniform of the world.” Som juiced up the classics with optic tweaks, such as scaled-up stripes on a long tank dress and the slightly exaggerated cutaway of a crisp white shirtdress, giving newness to the familiar.
