With just a handful of collections to her name, New York native Sandy Liang has become known for her truly outstanding outerwear, which has spoken volumes with a generation of downtown-chic urbanites: models Soo Joo Park, Caroline Brasch Nielsen and Heather Kemesky have all donned her jackets. So it comes as a surprise she would introduce lace-adorned, flirty dresses for her first resort outing.
But the feeling is short-lived once you consider that every look had the quirky nonchalance, the eccentric details and the tension between hard and soft that Liang loves to play. A bandeau of baby blue lace was stitched atop a gingham shirt. A pink lace dress sported a gingham trompe l’oeil bra and slip set. Atypical flashes of skin, particularly on the back of an unassuming striped button-down, provided the kind of subversive quality her customers crave.

But what is a Sandy Liang collection without statement-making outerwear? Especially noteworthy: a fluffy white lamb shearling jacket with both detachable sleeves and waist, aptly dubbed the “Lambaux” (each piece in the collection was named after a car).
“I’m just having a lot of fun with this,” Liang stated. It showed.
