With resort season marking a year since its launch, Robert Rodriguez is starting to have a little fun with his R/R Studio label. Until now, the line’s been characterized by muted, easy-to-wear pieces with a subtle tomboy flair, but this season saw Rodriguez stepping out of his comfort zone with a series of looks in baby pink, including a long wool coat and a hooded jacket lined in pink fur. A men’s wear influence was still present in wool plaid coats and striped shirting, but was overall offset by the collection’s romantic, ruffled blouses and dresses offered in sheer chiffon or micro floral-printed silk accented with lace trim.
Rodriguez also added more jumpsuits this season — some cut long-sleeve with a utilitarian vibe, others that riffed on silk pajamas — that were styled as pants, with the top half tied around the waist. The look made for an effortlessly cool, grungy effect.
