For Cinq à Sept’s first resort lineup, Jane Siskin and her design team journeyed to Morocco, culling the vibrant colors, textures and patterns found in the country’s markets, gardens and buildings. The elaborate carvings and tile work on traditional riads inspired the collection’s prints, one of which also riffed on a classic men’s foulard.
The lineup juxtaposed romantic boudoir silhouettes — think floral-printed bra tops, tap shorts and silk pajama pants — with sporty separates, often fusing the two in one look for a sexy, semi-dressed attitude: a sweetheart bustier dress worn over track pants or a cropped bomber thrown over a coordinating, ruffled chiffon gown. Playful embellishments — such as colorful patches sewn on an army jacket, or the phrase “Je T’aime” embroidered on a cardigan sweater — should strike a chord with the brand’s youthful clientele.

“We’re trying to perpetuate the vibe we started with: pretty clothing that’s still cool,” Siskin said. One ensemble that certainly hit the mark: a slouchy, crushed velvet jacket and pants, cut oversize with contrast piping and styled over a silk embroidered camisole — “because everybody needs a chartreuse velvet suit,” she added with a laugh.
