“Long and lean, tailored and very proper,” said Tomas Maier of his vision during a walk-through of his resort collection for Bottega Veneta. A quartet of models showed candy-colored coats with matching shoes and bags, all playfully polished. “It’s very colorful, because this comes [into stores] at a time of the year when the light goes down, the days are short and I like it happy,” he said.
The collection picked up on the mood of fall — chic, luxe and authoritative — but with a more spirited vibe, thanks to the palette of dusty pastels and rainbow brights. Maier also played with contrasting textures, as in a velvet dress under a striped shearling coat and a simple cashmere knit top underneath a glossy leather coat. “I like the idea of the shine and matte together,” he explained.
