Resort presentations come in every format under the sun, but to view a collection in the midst of sales market, as WWD did for Theory, is to realize that product is king. If the racks of deliveries, centered around Theory creative director of women’s design Lisa Kulson’s vision of luxurious sweatsuits, didn’t send chills of excitement down one’s spine, they certainly covered the range of wardrobe building blocks that will feel very relevant come November-December.
An important look was cropped wide-leg pants, shown in everything from a viscose-blend ribbed knit to a smooth, almost athletic scuba fabric, often styled monochromatically with tunics in crepe, scuba and ribbed knits. A little more daring were the suede bustier tops that when worn discreetly beneath classic basics — blazers, cashmere cardigans — nudged them in a tastefully edgy direction.
