Kym Ellery found her resort muse in Anita Pallenberg, the actress, model and love interest of two Rolling Stones members, Keith Richards and Brian Jones, throughout the Sixties and Seventies. It was Pallenberg’s interest in witchcraft — black magic specifically — that intrigued Ellery, resulting in a moody, mostly black, decidedly un-resortlike lineup — with pops of white, red and blue.
It wouldn’t be Ellery without signature volume and ruffle detailing on everything from off-the-shoulder gowns to crisp cotton blouses; this season she gave her tops balloon sleeves and updated her trousers with white contrast stitching and prints done in sheer silk chiffon. Ellery’s tongue-in-cheek version of a sundress — a fluid V-neck shape that came in black and red — featured copper zipper hardware up the bust.
