For resort, Christian Siriano flipped through Peter Moruzzi’s tome, “Palm Springs Holiday,” which revisits the lifestyles of the wealthy set in California’s desert city throughout the Sixties. “There were these poolside photos of fabulous women wearing not only swimsuits but colorful, printed cover-ups and metallic caftans,” Siriano said. “But I don’t like that feeling, so we tried to modernize it.”
In a punchy palette of neon brights and metallic pastels, Siriano’s silhouettes, which subtly referenced Sixties Mod, included satin and chiffon minidresses, cotton eyelet shirting, cropped top-and-skirt sets, flirty rompers and cropped blazers. Colorful floral and stripe prints channeled Palm Springs’ golden era to a T, while his brocade tailored suiting, done in a playful monkey print, balanced out all the frill and frou with cleaner lines and a masculine edge.
