Clare Waight Keller’s playlist has been tuned to Seventies rock lately. For fall, it was Stevie Nicks’ hippie witchy woman. For resort, it was Brian Eno’s stage style — darkly romantic with a glamorous edge — but with less androgyny. The lineup was purely feminine with crocheted lace maxiskirts, airy cotton dresses in shirting stripes, pastel knits and leopard prints.
Keller emphasized the sense of performance and look-at-me presence with the proportions, which were either extra long, spilling on the floor — as in a black lace maxidress with a low-slung rocker belt and very cool engineer stripe wide-leg chambray pants — or lean and slouchy. The range offered a lot of desirable product, including the new Inez bag, a tasseled drawstring style with engraved hardware, within a familiar genre.
