Liz Giardina, vice president of design for Derek Lam 10 Crosby, spoke about pictures of a young Jessica Lange “in a messy bob, very little makeup and in a casual T-shirt and jeans” as being the main source of inspiration for resort. For starters, she highlighted the importance of denim and updating the “jean” into a flared, high-waist trouser cut while taking the fabric a step further via unexpected pieces such as a patchwork kimono. Fringe was also widely explored on everything from little black dresses to flowy wrap skirts, and laced-up grommets gave a retro edge to already cool asymmetric knits.
