Alice Temperley looked to woodland creatures as well as the flora and fauna of a picturesque English shire for her latest collection.
“She’s the hunter and gatherer and she’s collecting her charms and things — she’s from the forest,” said Temperley of her pre-fall inspiration. “It’s an English countryside fairy-tale.”
The result was a charming lineup of playful — and functional — pieces in earth tones balanced with red, pink and blue hues. Taking a cue from her upcoming book, as well as from her visits to the Somerset countryside, Temperley looked to nature’s decorative elements: flowers, foxes, birds and snails, as embellishments for eveningwear and day ranges.
Flowers and leaf crystal adornments were hand-sewn or delicately affixed onto gowns, as in one black tulle dress in silk organza. The shimmery display also came on wide-leg, sequined jumpsuits.

Digitized floral prints and patterns were seen on floor-grazing dresses in soft silk satin or on corded lace ones, with embroidery. Meanwhile crystal snails inched across the bodices of evening gowns, while bird patterns — subtle and ornate — appeared on day dresses and eveningwear.
Although all of her signature midi dresses were there, Temperley expanded on her day offer, adding separates such as wide culottes in black and blue, or khaki trousers with suspenders, pairing the latter with a ruffled white shirt. She introduced a new overcoat style made of a Lurex jacquard in an ornate floral pattern with bell-shaped sleeves.
