For pre-fall, Rosetta Getty homed in on the works of Swiss-born sculptor Carol Bove after visiting her “Storylines” exhibit at the Guggenheim. A subtle peacock print on a kimono-sleeved blouse took cues from Bove’s feather-covered canvases, and the collection’s soft palette of dusty pinks and natural tans were also drawn from the artist’s work.
Getty’s collection brimmed with understated elegance — slinky silk jumpsuits, mink shoulder wraps and striped satin evening skirts will appeal to her chic clientele — as well as versatility. Case in point: an alpaca wool poncho with a removable cape revealed a sleeveless coat underneath. A few looks in a lightweight cherry wool tartan print proved a nice counterpoint to the line’s otherwise minimalist aesthetic.
