Jeremy Scott took the bright, cartoonish artwork of Gilbert & George and spun it into a collection filled with trompe l’oeil effects and punky details. He unveiled the collection during his men’s fall show in London, with both male and female models wearing similar looks, right down to the suits and combat boots.
Backstage after the show, Scott said he wanted the outfits to be “drenched with color” — and he didn’t disappoint. Looks included punkish check shirts, jackets, bombers layered over striped minidresses and a boiler suit done in shades of fluoro pink, green and blue.
He shaded the clothing with black paint and drew on white squiggles to imitate wrinkles, created a pattern on denim meant to mimic quilting and one for a red scarf that suggested a check print.

There were A-line dresses with images from the duo’s artwork as well as Army jackets with slogans such as “Life” down the arm of an Army green parka. Channeling the artists’ subversive spirit, he splashed flower and boot tread prints over bomber jackets and showed many of the looks with bright yellow combat boots.
It was bright, in-your-face and only for the loudest of Moschino lovers.
