A Nineties sensibility with a touch of British subculture ran through Andreas Melbostad’s pre-fall lineup at Diesel Black Gold. The pre-collections, he said, are an opportunity to evolve the brand’s core looks — namely denim, biker jackets, parkas and utility pieces — which were layered with softer elements such as light silk dresses in micro-geometric prints and cropped sweaters. “And we’re still doing studs,” Melbostad said, as he held up a gray tweed dress with subtle silver hardware accents. “It’s kind of a basic for us.”
