Kiton chose not to follow any trends for spring and deliver what its customers asked for. “They give us the ideas; they tell us what to do,” said Antonio de Matteis, chief executive officer of Kiton group. “The younger guys today ask for three-piece suits, but very light and without any construction, while the more mature type wants to be sporty and casual. That’s a big different to just a few seasons ago.”
This translated into several novelties at the sartorial Naples-based label. Blazers came lighter than T-shirts, the fabric weighing only 160 grams per meter thanks to a jersey-cashmere combination. Bombers were done up in 1 mm.-thick leather for an almost feathery feel, while the brand’s outerwear collection impressed with trenchcoats and raincoats made of parachute canvas lined with cashmere that could be folded into a bag without getting wrinkled.
