“It’s mostly about the trench this season,” warned Stephanie Hahn backstage before the show. The way she took the classic men’s wear staple apart and put it back together again felt fresh and gave her tailoring a welcomed edge. To wit: Hahn layered the billowy bottom of the coat over a pair of cropped wide-legged pants in a matching fabric for an airy summer look, or chopped off the coat’s sleeves, producing long and lean silhouettes with contrasting workwear collars that gave this novel trench a modern air.
Elsewhere, a pair of single-pleat pants with an extra-low crotch, rendered in butterscotch-colored wool, delivered an upgrade of the summer power-suit when teamed with a sleeveless, slim-fit waistcoat in plum-and-navy chic stripes.
With the ultimate dandy Dorian Gray in mind, Hahn walked the line between cool and fancy with ease and refreshing clarity.
