Derek Buse and Joe Sadler made the move from the sandy beach to the arid desert of Death Valley for their CWST collection this season. The tight 12-piece lineup centered around textures and novelty fabrics, such as an indigo Japanese seersucker that the duo fashioned into a playful suit with shorts and three-quarter-length sleeves.
Even though they left the beach lifestyle behind, the relaxed lounge attitude remained and worked best when applied to the more-tailored pieces. When used with athletic references, the message got diluted and predictable.
