White Mountaineering is having a moment. Mere days after showing its second collaboration with Adidas Originals during Pitti Uomo 89 in Florence, the label presented another dynamic collection for fall.
Riffing on its outdoorsy roots, replete with a heavy dose of utilitarian technical details, the Japanese brand’s designer Yosuke Aizawa took the label to a new level by injecting lots of urban sophistication.
Models sported Aizawa’s signature plaids, distressed denim and puffers, but there were more ethnic details and embellishments added to the looks. Outerwear had Mexican blanket prints, and there were a plethora of fringe motifs, for instance.

A new richness to fabrics was evident, as well, for the brand known for performance materials like Gore-Tex and nylon. Take the baja jacket coming in a printed jacquard — less for a surfer dude than for a guy hitting the streets of Paris.
For the season, Aizawa chose a “trailblazer” theme. It was a celebration of workwear, with interesting silhouettes such as drop-crotch pants, apron-like skirts overlapping trousers, and a patchwork pants-and-parka ensemble.
