Walter Van Beirendonck opted for a “woest” (Dutch for “wild” or “savage”) theme for fall. And its quirky ferociousness — evident in the melding of animal prints, geometric patterns and a wide variety of fabrics — worked terrifically well.
The Belgian maverick continued constructing and deconstructing fashion in unpredictable ways. His first set of looks, for instance, involved sartorial jackets draped with marionette-like characters (think Pinocchio) overlaying broad trousers. Some leather bomber jackets were fronted by brightly colored faces with dangly legs, while navy, red or yellow patent leather jackets boasted shearling panels.
