The Études collective — headed by artist Aurélien Arbet and graphic designer Jérémie Egry — gave in to this season’s Nineties influences. The designers conjured a rebellious offering packed with military and raver references, blowing silhouettes out of proportion and camouflaging their coats, pants and overalls with either khaki or black-and-white patterns.
The military theme and the maxi volumes were on trend, yet the collection skewed gimmicky at times, as seen on a baggy overall with numerous maxi pockets strapped to the legs, chest and arms. The message was better heard when the ravers actually kept their cool, wearing a monochrome ensemble composed of a lightly padded sleeveless vest with hoodie, layered over a shirt and cropped, pleated trouser, for instance.
