Poignantly, it was “The Sacred Triangle,” a documentary about the symbiotic creative relationship between David Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop, that inspired the grown-up collection that Katie Eary showed on Monday as news of the musician’s death spread.
She had fixated on Pop’s relationship with Nico, and imagined what it would look like if the two of them were to swap clothes. Showing restraint with the gender-bending concept, she included a few options in the mix for even manly men, mostly in outerwear. The gray flight jacket with a shearling collar, for instance, fit the bill — even if it was teamed with silver leather jeans and a silver foil shirt.
Print is Eary’s forte and she put her quirky spin on hardy men’s staples like paisley, shirt stripes and polka dots, transposing tightly coiled snakes onto a geometric stripe pattern, or turning the serpents into teensy spots. Elsewhere, moths pretty enough to be butterflies appeared sparingly on knitwear.

A pair of pewter jeans that laced up the front of the legs had plenty of glam-rock appeal, as did the black shearling coat with a goat-hair collar that opened the show. Bowie would have approved.
