With a brief presentation, set in the tony premises of Galerie Bailly, Officine Générale delivered a clean and calm collection strong on updated men’s wear classics — or as designer Pierre Mahéo referred to it, “a different normality.”
Mahéo confessed that at first he felt like “changing things, push the wardrobe a step further, amplify the volumes and harden the shoulders,” but then he realized, “It wasn’t me.”
As the saying goes: If the shoe fits, wear it, and this is essentially what Officine General is about — a wardrobe that works in a myriad of situations.

The designer did give the clothes a fresh spin. Tailored pants, though cropped with big cuffs, showed volume around the waist, which looked chic and youthful when styled with fitted blazers and oversized cashmere scarves.
Mahéo also played with layering options to adapt to increasingly capricious meteorological conditions, which came through in a nylon varsity jacket or light parka with tartan shirt and tie ensemble. There was beautiful texture, too, especially on utilitarian coats, done in emerald or burgundy brushed wool.
