Stephanie Hahn said she looked to Oscar Wilde’s flamboyant aesthetic for fall, which explained the lavish accessories that accompanied her clean, precise tailoring. Wilde would have probably appreciated the detachable faux fur sleeves that adorned a long and roomy overcoat – similar to the kind he wore in the late 1800s.
The fur elements, including luscious collars, arm patches and neck muffs, offset the strictness of some of the more fitted silhouettes, while looser volumes, including single- and double-pleated cuff trousers, married comfort with contemporary chic. Hahn focused on outerwear, including handsome capes with the look of a blazer in front — a nifty trompe-l’œil effect. Navy and black with occasional flashes of burgundy and mustard fed into the collection’s dual themes of function and whimsy.
